Advocate, promote and build connections in an inclusive learning environment

The Kent School Student Association (KSSA) is a supportive student organization for social work and couple and family therapy students, and other like-minded students who have a passion for social justice, serving vulnerable and diverse populations and advocating to promote change to improve the lives of others.

Students join together to advocate for positive change in the communities they serve, work and live in, and here at the university. They address broader local and national issues that affect others and our Cardinal community.

KSSA provides meaningful engagement and support

KSSA is one of 400+ clubs and organizations available to students at the University of Louisville. No membership or dues are required to join an organization offering a diverse and inclusive educational environment that provides activities and discussion beyond the classroom.

Students have opportunities to engage with Kent School faculty and staff and students from other universities across the United States, as they take action to highlight the relevance of social work and family therapy through community service opportunities and activism. Their efforts are focused on promoting the mission of the Kent School as they provide representation in local and national spaces.

KSSA works to promote social work values

The mission of the organization is to serve and support the general advancement of the Kent School of Social Work and Family Science. KSSA is guided by the professional code of ethics outlined by the National Association of Social Work.

The KSSA organization promotes a diverse and inclusive educational environment. Members advocate for students’ concerns and issues within the school, the campus and the broader community. Members provide effective communication with school administration, the university, students and community partners.

Their engagement and efforts benefit the Kent community as a whole, and their representation in spaces highlights the relevance of the professional fields of social work and family therapy.
